Female Electronic Dance Music DJS are finally getting recognized and the respect they deserve. Tell you the truth, many of them who I know personally steal the show where-ever they get the opportunity to play. One of them is Glojin. Her mixing skills are second to none paired with her track selection will make for an unforgettable night. Enjoy this one-on-one interview and be sure to leave a comment below.
Hi Glojin, How’s everything on your side of the pond!
Hey Doug, everything is great thanks for asking ! Just keeping myself busy and chasing my dream.
Share with us the beginning of your love for dance music and how you got into djing.
I have actually always been into dance music since I was little, but it wasn’t until I turned 18 that one of my best friends introduced me to the underground scene and opened a whole new world for me. Florida Breaks were big where I lived at the time in Charlotte, NC. Every weekend there was a party and I went to the same club for a year straight literally every weekend! I would spend most of my night dancing of course, but for some reason I always gravitated to the DJ booth and found myself captivated by watching the DJ’s in their zone. I was so intrigued that for my 19th birthday I asked my parents to buy me my first set of decks. A pair of Numark TT1610’s and a 2 channel mixer, took me almost 7 months to be able to beat match consistently. After watching the DJ’s connect with a dance floor time and time again, and watching how much fun they were having, I just knew it was what I was supposed to be doing.
I fell in love with the underground electronic dance music scene instantly. For the first few years of when I started to DJ, I was strictly a Break Beat chick. As I started to travel the country for different festivals, my mind got opened to more and more genres I had never heard of before. I still love a lot of different types of dance music, but when I discovered Trance I knew I had found myself. Being able to express myself and connect with people through music is exactly why I fell in love with the art of DJing.
If you had the opportunity to play at your favorite events, what would those be?
The ultimate dream is to of course play at Luminosity Beach festival in Holland, but I think that is every Trance DJ’s dream hehe. Another one of my favorite events is the Monday Bar Cruise in Sweden which I had the honor of playing for the first time this past February. Some already know this but I am a huge laser fanatic so would love to play Transmission in Prague, such a great event !
Those of who are friends with you have noticed you spent a week learning music production. Tell us all about it!
Ah yes the Trance Retreat, where do I even begin?! It was an incredible experience from start to finish, even though I was a little bit nervous about spending a week in seclusion with a group of people I had never met. I was also a little apprehensive about doing the retreat because I am so beginner, but I actually understood and followed along way more than I thought I would. Monday through Friday we had two seminars a day, plus 1 on 1’s with the producers of our choosing. They touched on some key elements for production. My favorite seminar was Sound Design with Bjorn Akesson, it was so cool getting to see how to create your own sounds because I believe it is important for creating your own identity as a artist. The seminar on Kick and Basslines with Adam Ellis was awesome as well, he explained how the kick is the foundation of a good track and taught us the kick and bass have to mesh well or it doesn’t sound good. My 1 on 1 with Menno was so much fun! He showed me some really useful tricks and created a little mini track, he was so down to earth and patient. When we had down time all of us amateurs were in the seminar room full focused working on music late into the night, some of the producers even came around and sat down with us to see what we were working on. It was a life changing motivating experience for me, I highly recommend it to any aspiring Trance DJ or Producer!
Could we see some productions from you in the near future?
Yes definitely ! I don’t know how near though because I refuse to release anything that isn’t topnotch, so it might take me a while to get to that point. Either way I won’t give up, I want this badly.
What are your current favorite tracks of 2018?

Beautiful Mind (Dennis Sheperd remix) – Marcel Woods

Tell us about your own events you throw in Norway.
I live in a small city by the ocean in Norway called Kristiansand, it’s a cute little summer city. Unfortunately the music scene here is pretty bad and Trance is non existent. I was talking to my good friend and DJ buddy Freddie one day, told him I have been wanting to start a Trance night since I’ve moved here so we can have a place to have fun and enjoy the music we love. We started “For the Love of Trance” not to make money, but to provide a place for the fellow trance lovers here to come and forget their troubles for a night. The last 4 events have been held at a very small 60-70 max capacity bar, because of the great reactions and turnouts we have been getting, we will be moving to a bigger venue next time! I am super happy and humbled to see this happening. I am still new at throwing events, I hope to learn and grow along the way.
Your Facebook live video streams seem to get a lot of attention. Your fan-base & support is ever growing!
I started doing live-streams consistently a little over a year ago now, by summer time last year I was getting over 20,000 views. I still wonder what it is that grabs the attention of many, I know I am talented but with so many other DJs doing live-streams I can’t help but wonder. I think one thing might be that I love to connect with my viewers while playing, I want them to feel involved as if they were right in front of me. I am super thankful for all my loyal followers, an artist is nothing without their fans.
Where do you see yourself in five years with your DJ career. Are you looking to take it further?
In five years I hope to be established in my productions and playing around the world. It may not happen for me in 5 years, but this is my passion and dream, I will stop at nothing to make it come true. I am definitely taking it further, it’s just a matter of how far and when. I can’t see myself doing anything else in this life, I feel I was born to do this!
Any last words for my readers and fans?
Thanks to all who took the time to read this ! I hope to see some of you out on the dance floor somewhere one day, and if you are a Classic Trance / Tech Trance lover keep your eye out in the future for my productions. My goal is to fuse the two and create something unique and soul grabbing.
